What are the junior courses?
The junior courses teach Muslim boys and girls the basic knowledge of the Aqidah, Hadith, Tafsir, Akhlaq, aims of Islamic law and much more at an age-appropriate level.
It is particularly important to us that the juniors get to know and love Allah and his religion, and develop a strong personality, a good character and an Islamic identity.
Depending on the age of the junior, you can choose between "Junior" (6 to 9 years) and "Junior+" (10 to 14/15 years). Both courses last 1 year each.
How do the courses work?
The lessons last one hour each and are held via Zoom, a video conferencing platform. It is not necessary to download any software on the laptop or create a user profile on an external website. The Zoom app should be downloaded on the smartphone/tablet.
If you miss a lesson, you can watch it online afterwards in our course area.
Every week, we endeavour to cover at least 2 of the 6 topics in each course. Care is taken to ensure that the juniors memorise at least 20 suras per year and understand their meanings.
Each week there may be small homework assignments provided in the course area or explained by the Ustadhah.
At the end of the course there will be a small exam and a certificate will be issued to successful students.
A parent coaching session is planned every 2 months where parents can receive general coaching in Islamic parenting. Furthermore, parents will be informed in these coaching sessions about which topics we are currently teaching and which topics are planned. Parents also have the opportunity to ask specific questions.
Topic overview
Aqidah
Junior: 99 names of Allah and an introduction to Aqidah
Junior+: Aqidah Tahawiyyah (simplified for age)
Akhlaq
Lessons about the Akhlaq for children and young people, age-appropriate selected topics
Hadith
Junior: selected hadiths from Riyadus-Saliheen
Junior+: 40 hadiths from Imam Nawawi
Seerah
Biography of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alayhi was-sallam), told in an age-appropriate manner
Tafsir
Selected suras, explained in an age-appropriate manner. Each junior should learn at least 20 suras every year
Life-Skills
The juniors should learn important things for life, such as communication, motivation and impulse control.
The topics differ in the two courses Junior and Junior+.
It is therefore a good idea for older children to take the Junior course first or to take Junior and Junior+ at the same time (for the price of one course).
